Graduate Student Recruitment
Purpose and Scope
The Graduate Student Recruitment Dashboard provides a clear, data-driven view of how many prospective students meet the admission requirements for the university’s graduate programs. By tracking applicant eligibility across key criteria, such as currently held degrees, prerequisite coursework, and other program-specific standards, the dashboard helps departments monitor trends, identify recruitment opportunities, and ensure informed decision-making throughout the admissions process. It serves as a centralized tool for understanding the readiness and preparedness of potential graduate applicants.
- Doctoral Summary: Tracks the number of students who meets the doctoral admission requirement.
- Data Download Center: Provide a table to download the student data who met the graduate program admission requirements.
Data Sources and Structure
The data in the dashboard is sourced from UTRGV’s Student Information System (Banner) and reports from the SAIR. The dashboard integrates data about student enrollment, academic progress, and degree completion to offer a holistic view of doctoral students’ journeys. The structure is designed to filter information by college, department, and program, enabling targeted insights.

Key Metrics and Visualizations
The dashboard uses several visual tools to present data clearly and effectively:
- Doctoral Summary: Bar charts display the number of students who met the admission requirements grouped by their currently held degree.
- Data Download Center: Flat table that shows the number of student who met the admission requirement with an option to download the currently displayed dataset.
This dashboard is a valuable tool for tracking potential applicants who met are eligible based on several key criteria.

Filters and Slicers:
- College, Programs: This slicer allows users to filter data by selecting specific colleges or Program.
- Currently Held Degrees: Filters data by students and the degree they currently hold.
- Currently Active: Filters data by students who are currently active at UTRGV.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- # of Admission Eligible Students: This card displays the total number of students who met the program's admission requirement.
- # of Student with a STEM Background: This card displays the total number of students who met the program's admission requirement and have a STEM background.
- # of Student with an Education Background: This card displays the total number of students who met the program's admission requirement and have an Education background.
Visuals:
- Stacked Bar Chart - # of Eligible Students by Currently Held Degree: This visual shows the distribution of admission eligible students within each programs group by their currently held degrees.
- Table - Programs, Currently Held Degrees, # of Unique Students: This table presents a breakdown of admission eligible students by program and their currently held degree, showing the number in each category.
- Table - Academic Requirement: This table shows the admission requirements for each program.
Overall Functionality: This page is designed to track the students who are eligible for admission to the doctoral programs offered at UTRGV, allowing users to assess which programs have the largest pool of potential students to admit. Users can filter by program or program to view trends specific to their area of interest.

- Table - Students Data: This table presents a breakdown of all admission eligible students and list out the respective data, such as: Banner ID, Full Name, Level College, Department, Program Code, Currently Enrolled Program, Concentration, GRE Found, STEM Background, and Education Background..
Overall Functionality: This tab provides users with a convenient way to download student based on the drill through action from the previous tab. Users can also filter by program and college to focus on specific groups of students.
Access and Support
Access to the dashboard is restricted to authorized personnel, including PIs, department administrators, and financial leads who manage sponsored projects. Users can log in through the institution's secure login system to access the dashboard.
