User Guide: Completing the Proposal Information Section in ARGO-SPI
Purpose: This section of the SPI form gathers essential information about the proposal type and identifies any sensitive aspects (hard stops) that may require additional approvals.
Sections and Field Requirements
- Type of Submission (Required)
- Select the type of proposal submission from the dropdown options. This will categorize the proposal based on its purpose and scope.
- NSF HERD Attribute (Required)
- Select the NSF HERD (Higher Education Research and Development) attribute relevant to your project.
- Additional Information: To understand these attributes better, refer to the NSF HERD Survey Glossary.
- Upload Proposal Documents
- Attach all necessary documents under the Upload Documents section on the left menu to ensure a complete submission.
Hard Stop Questions
Hard stops are sensitive aspects that need approval from UTRGV before the proposal can be submitted to an agency or foundation. If any question below is marked "Yes," work with your OSP research coordinator to ensure all necessary approvals are obtained.
- Limited Submission: Does the funding opportunity restrict the number of proposals per applicant?
- Cost Share: Does the project require cost-sharing commitments?
- Course/Degree Development: Does the project involve creating new degrees, credentials, or significant program changes?
- Space: Does the project require additional or modified physical space at UTRGV?
- Time and Effort: Does the project involve course buyout or time commitment adjustments?
- Travel: Are there extensive travel plans, or travel to high-risk locations (e.g., Cuba, Iran)?
- Student Focused, Including Minors: Does the project develop initiatives for student success involving minors?
- New Organizational Unit: Does the project propose establishing a new UTRGV unit, such as a department or center?
General Information
- UTRGV Logo: Does the proposal involve the UTRGV logo?
- Procurement: Will any equipment or supplies over $5,000 be procured?
- Student Data: Does the project require student data for research?
- Location: Will the research be conducted at a non-UTRGV location?
- Purchase of Uncommon Items: Does the project involve the purchase of items like drones or trailers?
- High-Performance Computing: Will large-scale computing resources be used?
Additional Steps for Submission
- Complete Hard Stop Responses: Answer all hard-stop questions. If you select "Yes" for any, consult your OSP coordinator to arrange the necessary approvals.
- Save and Continue: After filling out this section, click the Save & Continue button to proceed to the next section.
