First-Year Student Admissions

If you are a high school student or high school graduate and have not attended a college/university after completing high school, you are a First-Year Student. GED and homeschooled students are also considered First-Year Students as long as they have not attended a college/university after receiving their diploma.

Transfer Admissions

If you have enrolled in a college or university after high school graduation, and have earned college credits, then you are a transfer student.

Non-Traditional Undergrad Admissions

Apply to reactivate your record and continue working towards your degree.

Documents Required:

  • Fill out the UTRGV Readmit application online at applytexas.org.
  • If you attended other institutions after you last enrolled at UTRGV or submitted unofficial/in-progress transcripts when you last attended UTRGV, you will need to submit official college transcripts to the office of Undergraduate Admissions before classes begin.

Dual Enrollment Admissions toggle open accordion 

If you are interested in taking college courses while attending high school, then you are considered a Dual Enrollment Student.

Documents Required:

  • Fill out the UTRGV Dual Credit application online at applytexas.org.
  • Dual Credit Authorization Form
  • Official High School Transcript with GPA, ranking, and graduation plan, if applicable
  • ACT or SAT scores, if applicable

Transient Admissions toggle open accordion 

Continue your studies during your summer break at UTRGV by enrolling as a Transient student.  You are considered a Transient student if you are currently attending another institution of higher education and wish to enroll in courses during Summer. Students opting to take courses are considered non-degree seeking and have an intent of returning to their home institution.

Documents Required:

  • Fill out the UTRGV Transient application online at applytexas.org.
  • Official college transcript from your home institution

If you have already obtained an undergraduate degree and are interested in pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in a different major, apply for admissions using the steps outlined below.

Documents Required:

  • If your degree was earned at UTRGV or UTPA:
    • Fill out the UTRGV Readmit application online at applytexas.org.
  • If your degree was earned at another accredited institution (including UT-Brownsville):
    • Fill out the UTRGV Transfer application online at applytexas.org.
    • Official college transcript with bachelor’s degree awarded

If you have already obtained a bachelor’s degree and are interested in taking undergraduate courses whether for personal interest or to fulfill requirements and/or educational objectives for a particular undergraduate or graduate program, apply for admissions using the steps outlined below.

    • Fill out the UTRGV Readmit application online at applytexas.org.
  • If your degree was earned at another accredited institution (including UT-Brownsville):
    • Fill out the UTRGV Transfer application online at applytexas.org.
    • Official college transcript with bachelor’s degree awarded
