Why UTRGV?
UTRGV offers endless opportunities for growth and networking. Attending UTRGV is the best decision I have ever made. The faculty and staff truly care about making a difference. This support that staff and faculty provide is something that is rarely found elsewhere. Also, while I’m originally from China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the Valley has always been my home. I’m truly grateful for having the opportunity to attend this university.

What made you decide on your current major?
Since high school, I have always held an interest in learning how the business environment works. I guess from this also stemmed the idea of one day having my own business. So majoring in management was something I believed to be the best path to follow.

What are your plans after graduation?
Upon finishing my undergraduate career, I hope to get experience working in human resources. Having work experience will provide me exposure to the business environment and work within my field of study. After that, I do plan on furthering my education by returning to UTRGV to get my MBA.

What are you involved in on and off campus?
I am currently completing a human resources internship with Regal Beloit, a manufacturing company in McAllen. Previously, I worked on campus for the IT department as a computer lab assistant. I am currently serving as the president for the Society for Human Resource student chapter. I have also been involved with other student organizations throughout my academic career including the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Business Student Advisory Council.

What is your biggest accomplishment to date?
Knowing that I will be graduating this Fall 2016 and making the Dean’s List every semester are my biggest accomplishments so far. I also will be the first of my family to hold a college degree. I have proven to myself that nothing is truly impossible.

What advice do you have for future students?
Be active on and off campus. Go discover the different university programs and student organizations. It will have a huge impact and give you great networking opportunities.
