Why UTRGV?
UTRGV was close to home and financially accessible. They offered Graphic Design, which aligned with my interests.
What made you decide on your current major?
I chose to major in Graphic Design because of my love for digital art. I’ve always appreciated the arts and wanted to contribute to its expanding world. The more I learned, the more I realized how much Graphic Design has to offer in an art-related field.
What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I see myself working for various companies, ultimately becoming a freelancer. I enjoy creating posters—anything from university promotions to music artists’ tour posters. I’d love to partner with many musicians and develop branding for their albums.
What do you like most about UTRGV?
I enjoy the comfortable atmosphere on the Edinburg campus. I’ve never experienced a situation where someone wouldn’t help me. It feels like a tight-knit community. Because I’m a Graphic Design major, I’ve had some professors for multiple classes, which has helped me form better connections with them.
What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
It means being helpful and proud of where you come from. It doesn’t matter where you started; it’s about how far you’ve come. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished to get where you are.
What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV helped me find internships and build friendships with people who encouraged me in the right direction.
What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
Go for it! But don’t do it blindly—explore what truly calls to you. Envision yourself in that career and learn as much as you can. Don’t let fear of failure hold you back. Be the best you can be!
