Why UTRGV?
Choosing UTRGV was an easy decision for me because I have lived in the Rio Grande Valley my entire life. Staying close to home allowed me to remain connected to my community while pursuing a quality education. UTRGV offered not only a convenient location but also exceptional academic programs, dedicated professors, and opportunities I may not have found elsewhere. The university’s commitment to affordability, diversity, and student success made it the perfect choice for both my undergraduate and graduate studies.
What made you decide on your current major?
I chose to pursue my MBA because it is one of the most well-rounded graduate degrees within the College of Business. I have always been interested in understanding how businesses operate, and this program allowed me to explore various fields, including finance, economics, accounting, and management. Learning about these different aspects of business and how they interconnect in the real world has been incredibly valuable. Ultimately, I knew that an MBA would make me a more knowledgeable and competitive candidate, equipping me with the skills to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment.
What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
Beyond completing my MBA, I hope to continue advancing in the financial industry by exploring career opportunities in auditing, accounting, or risk management. I want to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve gained to help businesses make informed financial decisions and navigate risks effectively. Ultimately, I aspire to contribute valuable expertise to the industry, helping organizations operate more efficiently and sustainably in an ever-changing economic landscape.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
My advice for fellow students is to stay disciplined and manage your time wisely. It’s important to work hard, stay focused, and avoid procrastination. As someone who has completed the accelerated online program, I highly recommend starting assignments early. Waiting until the last minute can create unnecessary stress, while staying ahead of your work ensures a better chance of success. Consistency and planning are key to balancing coursework demands while maintaining a high level of performance.
