Why UTRGV?
I chose UTRGV because it offered everything I was looking for in a university. It allowed me to stay close to my family, which was very important to me, while providing an affordable, high-quality education. UTRGV's status as a Hispanic-Serving Institution also appealed to me, as it celebrates and represents Hispanic culture in meaningful ways. Knowing I’d be in an environment that honors my heritage and supports students from similar backgrounds made the decision even easier. The combination of proximity, affordability, and cultural appreciation made UTRGV the perfect choice for me.

What made you decide on your current major?
I selected marketing as my major because it allows me to be creative while challenging me to think strategically. I appreciate that marketing is a constantly evolving field; new trends, technologies, and engagement strategies always emerge, meaning there’s always something new to learn. This dynamic environment keeps me engaged and makes marketing a great fit for me. Now, I find myself noticing marketing techniques everywhere I go, and that awareness only fuels my passion for the field.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
Beyond completing my major, I hope to explore various areas within marketing to discover what truly resonates with me. I want to gain experience in different roles, such as digital marketing, brand management, destination marketing, or event planning. My goal is to find a path that allows me to combine my creativity with my desire to connect with people, ultimately leading to a fulfilling career.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
What I like most about UTRGV is the caring and knowledgeable professors. Every professor I’ve had here is not only an expert in their field but also deeply passionate about what they teach. That passion shines through in every class, making the learning experience engaging and inspiring. They connect with students, share real-world insights, and encourage us to think critically. Their dedication has inspired me and made my college experience truly enriching.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero means being part of a vibrant environment that values determination and resilience. I take pride in attending UTRGV because it fosters a space where students support one another and strive for excellence. The spirit of the Vaqueros reflects a strong sense of tradition and cultural heritage, which resonates deeply with me.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV has opened the door to numerous opportunities that have enriched my educational experience and helped me connect with my community. From my internship at Brand Geniuz to studying abroad in Switzerland, I’ve been able to explore different aspects of my major through hands-on learning. These experiences have allowed me to apply my skills in real-world settings.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
My advice for fellow students pursuing their degrees is to fully utilize the resources available at UTRGV. Engage actively with your professors, as they offer valuable insights that can greatly enhance your learning experience. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and seek mentorship. Your college journey is what you make of it, so get involved, network, and embrace every opportunity that comes your way.
