Vaqueros: Inspire

The past year and a half has been ... well, let's just call it eventful.

Through it all, though, the UTRGV Vaqueros – students, faculty, and staff alike – have persevered, pushing ahead to keep leading and succeeding in virtual and in-person classrooms. They've worked at the office and from home, with kids and kitties popping in and out of the Zoom screen. They've studied online and in parking lots -- wherever a WiFi connection would hold.

The pandemic has not stopped Vaqueros from reaching their goals. Rather, it inspired them to keep moving forward to earn their degree, to come up with new ways to teach, and to discover a new Vaquero way of life.

Meet some of the UTRGV Vaqueros who, despite the pandemic, found ways to thrive, personally and professionally, and inspired others to chase their dreams.

Dr. Sean Taylor

Melodies continue for UTRGV Choir Program, despite pandemic

All Dr. Sean Taylor, director of Choral studies and associate professor of music, has known, is meeting in person to help students develop their voice and musical arts. That is until the COVID-19 pandemic reached the Rio Grande Valley. Taylor had to switch things up both for himself and his students to create just the right virtual environment to master their craft.
