Why UTRGV?
UTRGV stood out to me because it allows me to reach my goals while staying close to home. Being near my family means a lot, and I really enjoy the culture and community here. UTRGV offers a quality education and great opportunities to grow both as a student and as a person. I love the campus environment, how friendly and supportive everyone is, and the pride people take in being part of this school. It's a place where I feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to keep learning and working toward my future.
What made you decide on your current major?
I chose marketing because it blends creativity with real-world impact. I’ve always been fascinated by how a simple idea can reach thousands of people—whether it’s through a clever ad, a viral post, or a strong brand message. I love how marketing connects, inspires, and influences others. It’s an exciting, ever-evolving field that constantly pushes me to think bigger and dream further. Marketing truly brings out the best in my creativity and ambition.
What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
After completing my degree, I hope to pursue a career in social media and work for a marketing firm where I can continue growing my skills. My goal is to help brands connect with their audiences in creative and meaningful ways. In the future, I’d love to start my own business — perhaps a marketing agency—where I can work on projects I’m passionate about and help others grow their brands.
What do you like most about UTRGV?
What I like most about UTRGV is the strong sense of community and the welcoming environment. The campus is filled with friendly people, and I’ve always felt encouraged by both students and faculty. The classes are engaging, and the professors genuinely care about helping us succeed. UTRGV offers a great education and many opportunities for personal and professional growth. It’s a place where I feel motivated, supported, and proud to be a student.
What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero means being part of a strong, proud, and hardworking community. It represents unity, determination, and the drive to succeed—no matter where you come from. I’m proud that UTRGV celebrates our culture, supports our goals, and encourages us to dream big. As a Vaquero, I feel empowered to grow academically and personally. It means being part of something bigger than myself and a university that truly believes in its students.
What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV has opened many doors for me. I currently work as a marketing specialist at UTRGV, a role that has helped me grow professionally and that I truly enjoy. I also have the opportunity to study abroad this summer in Switzerland, where I’ll learn more about global marketing and experience a new culture. UTRGV has helped me connect with other students, and one of my goals now is to help others get involved and succeed.
What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
My advice is to never give up, no matter how difficult things get. Stay focused and believe in your goals — you have the power to shape your future. Take full advantage of everything UTRGV has to offer. There are so many resources, opportunities, and programs available; sometimes all it takes is asking. At UTRGV, behind every door is someone willing to help. Don’t be afraid to reach out, explore, and make the most of your college experience. You are capable of doing great things.
