Why UTRGV?
I chose UTRGV because it offers an accredited online MBA program that fits my needs as a working student and parent. Its affordability, combined with high-quality education, made it the perfect choice for me. Furthermore, UTRGV’s strong cultural heritage makes the learning experience even more meaningful and close to home.
What made you decide on your current major?
As a first-generation student, I was initially unsure about what career path to pursue. However, during my undergraduate years, I discovered my passion for marketing through internships that allowed me to develop new skills and gain hands-on experience. That inspired me to pursue a master's degree in marketing to broaden my knowledge. I fell in love with bringing ideas to life, storytelling, establishing personal connections, brand awareness, analyzing different aspects of communication to drive change, and distributing top-quality branding and content. Overall, I love how marketing blends creativity, strategy, and data-driven decision-making. With what I learned during my internships and undergraduate jobs, I will sharpen my skills to help businesses and organizations build meaningful connections with their audiences.
What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
After completing my MBA, I aspire to lead and assist with marketing initiatives that drive meaningful change, whether in corporations, higher education, or social impact organizations. My goal is to effectively express their story while advocating for ethical marketing strategies.
What do you like most about UTRGV?
What I love most about UTRGV is the sense of belonging, community, opportunities, and support available to students. The faculty members and staff are always there to help, as well as the professors. They all played a part in my college journey.
What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero means being ambitious, committed to growth, and helping others when you can. UTRGV has given me the confidence to pursue my goals, develop new skills, and serve the community.
What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV has given me several wonderful opportunities, for which I am forever grateful. I created the Student Parents Success Organization, where student-parents can support one another. This allowed me to gain leadership skills by collaborating with members and faculty to develop a family study room at the Edinburg library for student-parents to utilize while making the most of their education. Additionally, working as a Social Media Specialist for the Office for Sustainability helped me discover my passion for digital marketing and change. There, I became knowledgeable about the connections between sustainability, education, policy, and community well-being.
What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?

Seek internships, connect with faculty, staff, and professors, join organizations, and start projects that align with your passions.
