What made you decide on your current major?
As a Computer Science student at UTRGV, I'm fueled by my passion for technology and its potential to solve real-world problems. The program's exceptional curriculum, coupled with knowledgeable faculty, has honed my skills, and provided me with the expertise required to effect meaningful change in society. Access to cutting-edge technologies and the opportunity to work on exciting projects has further motivated me to develop innovative solutions that can positively impact people's lives. Additionally, UTRGV's supportive and inclusive community has provided me with the necessary resources to succeed and encouraged me to pursue my passion. Overall, my experience at UTRGV has been incredibly rewarding, and I'm enthusiastic about leveraging my education to make a difference in the field of computer science.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
Working as the lead software engineer at Fork to Fit Kitchen, I have had the privilege of working under the guidance of CEO and co-founder Alex Velasco, whose passion for empowering a healthier world through innovative meal portioning strategies has been truly inspiring. Mr. Velasco's quote, "’Empowering a healthier world, one meal at a time,’ is more than just a mission; it's a passion that fuels my every action," reflects our company's mission and has become our driving force. With my technical expertise as a Computer Science undergraduate from UTRGV, I am committed to utilizing technology to address complex global problems in healthcare and environmental sustainability, and working alongside Alex Velasco has allowed me to gain valuable experience in implementing solutions that provide healthier food alternatives. Together, we are dedicated to creating a lasting impact that uplifts future generations, one meal at a time.

What do you like most about UTRGV?

Taking care of your mental and physical well-being is crucial for success in all areas of life, including academics. It's essential to find a healthy balance between school and self-care activities such as exercise and hobbies that bring you joy. Also, focus on building a name for yourself by finding ways to stand out in your field and create a path that others can follow.
