Why UTRGV?
I am proud to call UTRGV my home because here everybody included everyone - we are like one big family that supports and encourages one another. It is an amazing school that offered me the comfort of feeling at home and staying close to my relatives. It offers a broad variety of diverse education, sports, as well as organizations that I can expand my knowledge.

What made you decide on your current major?
I decided to study marketing because I was influenced from one of my relatives. She currently works as a marketer for big brands and is always expanding my knowledge within the field. I had so much background knowledge at one point that she encouraged me to pursue a career within the major. I saw the potential I had with this branch, so I took it and do not regret one single bit. I am fascinated by every class I take within the career.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
My strength is my creativity and I always tend to look for a solution that will benefit everyone and that will help develop a positive outcome to the world. I believe that with my strength I can help other industries expand their knowledge and grow their business with different techniques and skills I carry with me.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
I like the opportunity UTRGV gives me with the amazing professors and courses. UTRGV makes me feel included in every event, whether it is sport related or an organization.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero is being a part of a one big family. Vaqueros care for one another and by that we become a part of an amazing community that encourages one another to succeed.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
I have been able to set new goals after going to several conferences that UTRGV was able to provide. UTRGV gave me the opportunity to fully exceed my expectation and put myself out there to learn from others. I was able to give talks at this conference which made me learn from my peers as well as other presenters who were there. I am thankful that UTRGV gives me the opportunity to expand my connections with others to learn from these experiences.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
The advice I would give you all is to keep pursuing your dreams; do not let anyone stop you from doing what you really want to achieve within your career. Follow the goals you have put for yourself and if you have no goals right now, then think about something you would like to achieve before completing your degree. Make sure you achieve what you want to reach to expand knowledge and skills. Also, when you are facing a challenging problem/situation do not get frustrated easily - there is always a solution for things so keep your mind clear and don’t saturate it with so much. Be stress free, go Vaqueros!
