Why UTRGV?
I chose to attend UTRGV because it’s close to home and I really loved how the campus felt like a tight-knit community while providing a sense of wholesomeness. There was also a great selection of majors aligning with my interests to choose from, which made my college decision that much easier. Attending UTRGV allows me to achieve my academic goals while staying close to the people I love most!

What made you decide on your current major?
I decided to pursue a double major in marketing and entrepreneurship because I have always had interest in business at a young age. I grew up around both of my parents having their own, and I really hope to experience the same one day! Within the experience of operating your own business, there’s always plenty of room for growth and innovation, and I truly feel that has a direct alignment towards my personal needs, career-wise.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I hope to achieve passion and happiness for any job that I land in my future. As long as the experience is true to what I desire for my career, that is what greatly matters to me. It’s all about the journey, so I anticipate learning new skills and great experiences along the way.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
From the campus, professors, students, and staff, these are all the things that I appreciate about the university. The overall environment is so warm and welcoming, which has made my college experience that much more special.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero means being part of the tight-knit community at UTRGV. It’s great to be a part of a university that continues to showcase growth and excellence for all of those involved.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV has given me the opportunity to rediscover my interest in graphic design within their work-study program. I am able to work alongside such a talented team that has taught me so much in the short amount of time I’ve been there. It truly is such an amazing experience. I am incredibly thankful for everyone and the positive learning environment UMC provides for their students!

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
My advice is to always follow your true passions and desires, and the rest will follow. It’s important to devote your time toward something of interest because the experience is all that is left behind among all the memorable moments.
