Why UTRGV?
I wanted to try someplace new. I wanted to go to a university with diversity. UTRGV has a diverse faculty as well as students. UTRGV welcomes everyone with open arms. I feel right at home here.

What made you decide on your current major?
My passion for art began as a child. At a very young age, I began introducing myself as an artist. Graphic Design is an excellent way for me to contribute to the world of art with my God given talent. As a graphic designer, I have the opportunity to impact others through art.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
Upon completing my studies at UTRGV, I hope to apply my knowledge of traditional and digital art skills, along with my media and animation skills to serve studios and agencies in making an impact in our world through art. I also hope to become a successful artist and multimedia designer.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
I enjoy the art and design classes that are offered at UTRGV. Here at UTRGV, I have been granted the opportunity to study a range of different mediums of art. I have learned from traditional sketching, painting, digital media classes relating to graphic design, as well as advertising and even learning 3D modeling and animation storytelling. The professors have been a great help to me as well.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero means that I am a part of something bigger than myself. It gives me the feeling of belonging to a community of lifelong learners who embrace students of all ages, cultures, and nationalities.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
I have been fortunate enough to get the opportunity to get professional work experience while I work as a SEI Student Graphic Designer for the Marketing and Communications Department here on campus. I am getting firsthand experience as I work alongside experienced graphic designers.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
Work hard but enjoy the journey that is leading you to where you are going. Seek out positive people who will encourage you. Enjoy life, you only live it once.
