Symposium Congreso de Arte Virreinal: El futuro del arte del pasado Lima, Peru
On the occasion of presenting to the Peruvian public the artistic transformations during the viceregal period, the Congress of Viceregal Art: The Future of Past Art seeks to trace the characteristics of pictorial languages and discover the ruptures and traditions accumulated in Viceregal Art through seven working sessions and three master lectures, given by Dr. Luisa Elena Alcalá (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid), Dr. Hiroshige Okada (Osaka University) and Dr. Thomas B.F. Cummins (Harvard University). The Congress of Viceregal Art has been organized by Verónica Muñoz-Nájar (University of California, Berkeley) and Katherine McAllen (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) thanks to the support of the Thoma Foundation, Harvard University, the Fundación Obra Pía José María Sancho Dávila, the Center for Latin American Art of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the Lima Museum of Art and the Institute of Museological and Artistic Research of the Ricardo Palma University.
