FAQ
Submit a protocol in tick@lab for approval by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Once approved, Lab Animal Resources will provide you with an orientation and facility tour and assist you with training and animal orders.
Rates are calculated annually per cage. The rates can be found by selecting the link on the webpage titled per diems (link) here or on the webpage.
To assist with budgeting for grant submission, you may also reference the Expense Calculation Sheet (link). Feel free to reach out for assistance in budget planning.
You may place your animal order requests at any time. However, because of our hot temperatures during the summer, delivery is not guaranteed to occur during hot temperature days. It is best to plan your orders to arrive between October through April. If animals are coming from a colder region (Oregon, New York) during the winter, you may also experience delays due to temperatures being too cold for animals to be transported.
Couriers are bound by federal and international animal transportation regulations to ensure safe temperatures for your animals for the duration of their trip.
Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) can train or re-train you and your staff on proper animal handling, minor non-surgical and surgical techniques.
To request training in tick@lab, please refer to the Request training tick@lab training.
Technician rates are available for research support, if you would like LAR technicians to perform animal procedures for your study (e.g., tissue collection, oral gavage, intraperitoneal injections, etc.). Rates can be found on the per diem (link) page.
We will grant you read-only calendar access to our procedural rooms to see availability.
