Overview

UTRGV's undergraduate degrees offer versatility across various specialization areas for students aspiring to become certified teachers. Our comprehensive educator preparation program is designed to equip future educators with the essential knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary for a successful teaching career. Our program requires education majors to pass certification exams, complete early field hours, and engage in clinical teaching. These components ensure students gain essential knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience in diverse classroom settings.

Admission

Admission to the Educator Preparation Program must be requested by formal application during the semester before the teacher candidate plans to start the program, following their degree path. Applicants must be formally admitted into the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley and meet all admission criteria to be considered for the program. This ensures that all candidates are well-prepared and meet the high standards required for successful teacher certification.
