About the Charles Butt Scholarships for Aspiring Teachers
The Charles Butt Scholarships for Aspiring Teachers is available to prospective teachers who are currently enrolled in, or plan to enter, an eligible teacher preparation program at a Charles Butt Foundation Raising Texas Teachers partner university, such as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
The scholarship consists of $8,000 to $10,000 in annual funding for up to four years, as well as ongoing professional development opportunities, mentorship from sitting public school educators, and participation in a statewide aspiring teachers' network with Texas educators.
The competitive selection process includes a Charles Butt Scholarship application, pre-screening by the UTRGV Program Leads with an individual interview for recommendation to the Charles Butt Foundation, and finalist selection by the Charles Butt Scholarship (CBS) staff based on written application and an individual interview with the CBS staff.
