Initiatives Overview
The Counseling and Training Clinic is the instructional laboratory of the Master of Education in Counseling Program. The clinic offers growth-enhancing experiences, as well as preventative and early treatment for developmental, emotional, and interpersonal difficulties.
The Mobile Literacy Unit (MLU) is a community outreach vehicle that travels across the Rio Grande Valley to provide low-income children with equitable literacy opportunities.
The College of Education and P16 Integration (CEP) seeks to attract highly motivated and talented students to its programs. By building and maintaining strong partnerships with schools and community-based organizations, CEP offers students a variety of opportunities to develop skills and kick-start a career in education — all in an intellectually stimulating and supportive environment.
The Charles Butt Scholarships for Aspiring Teachers consists of $8,000-$10,000 in annual funding for up to four years, as well as ongoing professional development opportunities, mentorship from sitting public school educators, and participation in a statewide aspiring teachers network facilitated by the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation.
