The C. Bascom Slemp and Lillian O. Slemp Charitable Trust established the C. Bascom Slemp Chair in Education in 2004 for the College of Education and P-16 Integration, and awarded Dr. Hilda Medrano this endowment for community engagement.

Early Childhood Education Summer Conference

June 20, 2026

The Early Head Start Child Care Partnership program will be hosting an Early Childhood Education Summer Conference on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Education Complex, Room 1.102, on the Edinburg campus. The conference features a variety of engaging and informative sessions, and includes the following benefits: free registration for the first 300 participants, complimentary lunch, conference bags, door prizes, and six continuing professional education hours.

Sing, dance, and learn with Latin GRAMMY® Award winning musical duo Andrés Mauricio Salguero, D.M.A. and Christina Sanabria, M.Ed.

123 Andrés is dedicated to bilingual early childhood education through catchy, educational songs in Spanish and English that foster language development, cultural appreciation, and joyful learning for young children and families.
