Welcome to the Office of Field Experiences!

The Office of Field Experiences is responsible for administering and organizing all field placements for teacher certification. Field experiences are an integral part of teacher preparation and the key to helping teacher candidates become effective educators who can successfully connect theory to practice. Based on these premises, our office strives to provide UTRGV teacher candidates with vast and structured hands-on experiences in the field throughout their teacher preparation program.

Our main goal is the success of our teacher candidates in becoming effective educators while maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence.

What We Are About

Empowering Educators

In preparing future teachers, hands-on experiences in real classrooms are essential for bridging theoretical knowledge with practical skills. These experiences enable candidates to understand how to work with children effectively while establishing meaningful connections between theory and practice. Emphasizing empathy, high expectations, and genuine passion, these aspiring educators navigate challenges such as classroom management with guidance from mentors. Through their clinical teaching journey, they gain confidence and refine their skills in managing classrooms and meeting the diverse needs of students. To new students entering this journey, the advice is simple: embrace the experience, persevere through challenges, and remember the profound rewards of teaching.

Embracing the Journey

Join us in celebrating the remarkable journey of our teacher residents! As they reflect on their year-long experiences, filled with growth, dedication, and passion for teaching, they invite you to embrace the journey alongside them. Hear their stories of transformation, witness the impact they've made on students' lives, and be inspired to support and encourage educators everywhere. Together, let's champion the next generation of teachers as they embark on their exciting careers, armed with enthusiasm and a commitment to shaping young minds. Join the movement and be a part of their extraordinary adventure!
