Cooperating Teachers are an essential part of the UTRGV College of Education and P-16 Integration and Office of Field Experiences field-based experiences and clinical teaching program.
The role of the cooperating teacher during the clinical teaching semester is to serve as a teacher educator through effectively modeling, mentoring, and facilitating the professional growth of the clinical teacher (student). The cooperating teacher essentially shares the responsibility with the university in the final preparation phase of the clinical teacher. Since the cooperating teacher has the most actual contact with the clinical teacher, he/she will have a great influence on the clinical teacher’s future career.
If interested in serving as a cooperating teacher, an application must be completed, to show you meet the required qualifications for effectively mentoring our clinical teachers.
