FAQ’s
In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month in April, SAS is holding an Autism Acceptance Poster Contest to increase awareness of autism.
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is holding an Autism Acceptance poster contest. Don't miss your chance to help spread awareness and win some UTRGV swag in the process. Your design can be an illustration to promote awareness in any format.
This year marks the 18th anniversary of Autism Awareness Day. If you want more information to Autism Self Advocacy Network
The contest will consider artwork only; please do not include words or messages in final submissions.
Must be student’s ORIGINAL artwork.
No syndicated, copyrighted, clipart images or computer aided (AI) entries!
The winning poster will be displayed in SAS office as part of our Autism Awareness campaign on 04/02/2025.
Who May Enter?
Any active UTRGV student.
How to Enter
Artwork must be submitted electronically through the SAS ADA Awareness Poster Contest
All entries must have an entry form, and publicity release form or they cannot be considered complete. The limit is one entry per person.
Reproduction Rights?
By entering the contest, an entrant:
(1) Warrants that their artwork is an original concept and constitutes an original work and does not infringe on the protected rights of other artists or violate any applicable copyright laws.
(2) Agrees to assign all copyright and other intellectual property rights in the artwork to UTRGV without any fee or compensation (other than the possibility of receiving an award stated above) and has the right to do so.
(3) Warrants they have not and will not submit the artwork in any other contest.
SAS will give credit to the artist in its use of the artwork.
Judging
All entries will be reviewed by a committee. Artwork will be judged on its ability to highlight a positive message and focus on Autism Awareness.
Winner will be announced via email on 03/31/2025.
Submission
How many entries can be submitted by a competitor?
The limit is one entry per person. Any other submissions by the same competitor will not be reviewed by the competition committee.
When is the deadline for all submissions?
The deadline for all submissions is by 03/24/2025 by midnight.
Design Size?
Dependent of submittal format. Example: digital file should be less than 25 mb for it to be emailed. Any submission larger than 25 mb please contact our office at ability@utrgv.edu
Is it possible to have an individual’s completed poster reviewed by the committee before it is submitted to make sure all measurements are correct?
The committee is unable to review an entry before it has been submitted. This is to avoid any competitive advantage and to remain fair to all participants. Design can only be submitted once, please make sure the design you submit is the final and only entry.
Can the artwork be either landscape or portrait?
The artwork can be landscape or portrait.
What common software would be best to complete the poster?
Any software can be used to complete your poster if you can meet the specifications required. Popular software examples: Photoshop, Illustrator, Paint, or InDesign.
Can PowerPoint be used, and can animation illustrations be added?
PowerPoint can be used to draw but no animation illustrations.
Can the UTRGV Mascot be used in the artwork?
No, as the poster design should promote ADA awareness.
Does my competition poster need to be done digitally?
Competition posters can be drawn or painted and scanned.
If the design is drawn, how can it be submitted?
It can be scanned and submitted as an attachment on the entry form. If you encounter an issue submitting your design, please contact our office for assistance.

If the entry will not attach because the file is too large, what can the individual do?Since file submissions tend to vary depending on the medium and format created. We recommend that you upload a High-Res jpg that is at 300 dpi. Also, another format that can help assist with the file attachments is png format. Please remember to always save a copy of your original artwork. If you continue to struggle with your upload, please send an email to ability@utrgv.edu with the issue.
