Whether you are expecting, raising children, or contemplating parenthood, you might find it beneficial to explore both online and in-person parenting resources within the UTRGV community.

 

Assistance in the Rio Grande Valley

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps people buy the food they need for good health. People also can buy garden seeds with SNAP benefits.

SNAP food benefits are put on a Lone Star Card and can be used just like a credit card at any store that accepts SNAP.

The Easterseals Family Resource Center (FRC) is a hub of support for parents, caregivers, and pregnant mothers living in Hidalgo County with children between birth to 5 years of age. The FRC is a place-based center in the community where families with young children can find resources, basic needs and engage in parenting activities to help their children learn, grow and succeed.

Women Infant Child (WIC) is a unique supplemental nutrition program specifically designed for expectant mothers, women with young children, and infants. Participants are educated about maintaining good health and nutrition, and they receive benefits to buy nutritious foods. Those who meet the eligibility criteria can avail these services free of charge.
