Proxy Access
A student may give parents, legal guardians, or other trusted parties access to view certain parts of their student record online. This access is referred to as proxy access, and the person who is granted this authorization is called a proxy. The student controls the entire process through their ASSIST account and can add anyone with a valid e-mail address as a proxy.
Note: When a student grants proxy access, the student will also be disclosing their student identification number and other FERPA-protected information to the proxy.

Yes. Proxies are identified by e-mail address, and multiple students can assign that same e-mail address to a proxy. This is particularly useful in the case of siblings who each attend UTRGV and would like to grant proxy access to the same parent. Each student can still choose which specific information they would like to authorize even if the students share the same proxy.
A student can remove access for a proxy at any time. Please review our student guides for additional information.
Yes. Students can update which pages their proxy has access to at any time by returning to the Proxy Management page in ASSIST. Click on the Edit icon under the proxy’s name to make any adjustments.
No. Granting Proxy Access to an individual does not allow that individual to discuss a student’s record with faculty, staff or advisors at UTRGV. Students are able to complete a FERPA release form if they wish to allow university personnel to discuss and/or release non-directory information pertaining to the student’s educational record.
