Next Steps for Admitted Students

Make sure you complete the following steps to keep moving forward toward your first day of class. You may have already completed a few of the steps and some of the other steps may not apply to you.

If you have any questions, contact us via email at gradcentral@utrgv.edu or call us at 1-833-UTRGV-GC (1-833-887-4842). You can now even TEXT us at 956-446-0403!

ACTIVATE YOUR UTRGV ACCOUNT

The first step to turning your grad school acceptance into enrollment is accessing your UTRGV Account. After being admitted, please wait a minimum of 24 hours to receive an important email from the UTRGV IT Department. This email is critical and includes vital information to activate your UTRGV account.

Your “ myUTRGV” dashboard is your “Vaquero lifeline” – after logging in, you will be able to register for classes, view your financial aid, pay for your tuition and fees, update your contact information (all within the ASSIST application). Visit  utrgv.edu/myaccount to activate your account today!

If you need assistance accessing myUTRGV account, Blackboard, or your email, please contact the UTRGV IT Service Desk at 956-665-2020 or 956-882-2020 or check the Account Access FAQ page for more information.

CONTACT YOUR PROGRAM COORDINATOR/DIRECTOR FOR ADVISING

(Review your Degree Plan with your Graduate Program Coordinator/Director.)

At the graduate level, your advisor is a graduate faculty member. Each graduate program is assigned a faculty member who serves in the role of Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC). The Graduate Program Coordinator will create the degree plan, advise you on courses, and be your support guide through your entire program through graduation. To locate the GPC for your program, please visit the  Graduate Program Coordinators page.

REGISTER FOR CLASSES

The class schedule is available online. You'll need to select the TERM (the ones with module refers to accelerated programs) and SUBMIT to access the subject such as BIOL for Biology.

To register for classes, visit  my.utrgv.edu, sign in and click on ASSIST.  For detailed instructions on how to register for classes, visit the  Registration Instructions page. Don’t forget to register for classes early because the best selections come at the beginning.

*Please note: Some programs may have specific enrollment requirements like attending a program orientation before registering for classes.

If you are having difficulty registering for courses, please email us to  gradcentral@utrgv.edu with your concern, and include your student ID number. You can also visit the  Common Registration Errors page to troubleshoot any registration errors you may encounter.

MAKE TUITION PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS

After you register for classes, you may view your account balance within 48 hours. It is your responsibility to know the Tuition Due Dates and make the necessary arrangements to pay for your tuition and fees on time. If payment is not received by the due date, you risk having your classes dropped. For payment deadlines, please review the appropriate Academic Calendar:

For the On-Campus and Online Programs (16-week semesters): please select this  Academic Calendar.
For the Accelerated Online Programs (7-week modules): please select this  Accelerated Programs Calendar.

Visit your  my.utrgv.edu account to make a payment, TODAY!

CHECK ON YOUR FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS (IF APPLICABLE)

Whether it’s a Financial Aid grant, scholarship or loan, this is important information to ensure you pay your tuition and fees on time. You can find this information on  my.utrgv.edu.

For financial aid options or questions, please email finaid@utrgv.edu.

The Graduate College offers several types of scholarships, which vary by program and eligibility. For more information, visit  utrgv.edu/gradscholarships or send us an email to  gradscholarships@utrgv.edu.

Graduate assistantship positions are awarded through each academic department. Please visit the Graduate Assistantship page for more information and available positions.

REVIEW THE GRADUATE COLLEGE CATALOG

As a graduate student, you must remain in good academic standing (every semester or module) or risk being placed on academic probation or suspension (dismissal). Please review the cumulative GPA that you must maintain and read through the Graduate Catalog for other relevant policies and rules, such as dropping & withdrawing, leave of absence, continuous enrollment, and appealing a grade, plagiarism, and probation and suspension.

VIRTUAL GRADUATE STUDENT ORIENTATION

At our virtual Graduate Student Orientation, newly admitted graduate students, will be able to learn about important policies and resources UTRGV has to offer. Orientation is not mandatory; however, we strongly recommend students attend. The date, time and how to register to attend the Graduate Student Orientation will be sent to you by email before classes begin. Be sure to check your emails for this information.
