Contractor Onboarding

Constructor working on a street area.Contractor Responsibilities

Every contractor and their respective subcontractors are expected to take steps, as necessary, to protect the safety and health of university faculty, staff, students, and visitors during the performance of their work activities.

Contractor Safety Training, Criminal Background Checks, and Parking arrangements are required for all contractors who decide to do work with UTRGV. Failure to comply with these mandates will result in immediate remove from the contractor or sub from the UTRGV campus.

Contractor Safety Training

All contractors and subcontractors are required to take the following safety training prior to construction related activities. There is a brief exam to ensure that contractors are aware of the safety requirements.

Contractor Security Requirements

All contractors and their respective subcontractors who will be on the UTRGV campuses(s) unattended are required to obtain a Criminal Background Check (CBC) and wear a Contractor’s ID Badge from UTRGV Campus Card Services at all times. The badge fee is $12.00 and may be requested through cardservices@utrgv.edu. The following are the procedures for obtaining this background check.

Contractor Parking Arrangements

Parking arrangements should be made with the Project Manager prior to the commencement of the construction project. In most cases, personnel will be required to purchase a parking pass to park in UTRGV campuses. Those contractors who perform a significant volume of work on the campus are encouraged to purchase an annual parking pass.
