Program and College FAQs Regarding Pass/No Pass Grading
College of Education Teacher Education Program Students
The purpose of this FAQ document is to provide teacher education students (pre-admitted and in-stream) guidance in determining course-level designation of pass/no pass option during spring 2020.
If students have the required GPA for admission to teacher preparation or admission to clinical teaching, getting a pass/no pass this semester would not affect their progression through the program. If students do not have the required GPA, they may need letter grades to raise their GPA.
Also, for courses that require a C or better, selecting a Pass meets this requirement because letter grades of A, B, and C equal a Pass.
Please check this webpage regularly for updates.
No, as long as you meet the minimum 2.75 GPA requirement for admission.
Yes. If you select a NP you will not receive credit for the course and will need to retake it prior to admission to teacher education. If you earn a D in one of these courses in spring 2020 it may be the better option to keep the letter grade as long as it does not lower your GPA below admission requirements.
If you meet the minimum 2.75 GPA requirement for admission, selecting a Pass does not impact your admission.
Yes. However, keep in mind that you must have a GPA of 2.5 overall on your degree plan and a 2.5 GPA in each area of your degree plan in order to be admitted to clinical teaching.
