Why UTRGV?
I chose to attend UTRGV because of its financial accessibility, community-oriented atmosphere, and diverse degree offerings.
What made you decide on your current major?
I began my studies as a Computer Science major but quickly found my passion for data, so I switched to Information Systems in hopes of getting my master’s in Business Analytics.
What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I aspire to work for a leading tech company, whether it’s something as groundbreaking as SpaceX or an innovative brand like Zacua, which produces electric cars in Mexico.
What do you like most about UTRGV?
I appreciate many aspects of the university, particularly the engaging classes led by passionate and experienced professors, organizations like the Student Government Association that provide free scantrons and blue books, and traditional campus events like the Carnival of Madness. I also look forward to the Distinguished Speaker event, the softball and volleyball games, and soon the football games.
What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero represents my commitment to building community through hard work, dedication, and resilience. It represents our determination to overcome challenges and create opportunities for future generations.
What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
At UTRGV, I’ve found opportunities such as joining the Student Government Association to advocate for student voices, receiving mentorship from alumni in my field, and accessing valuable resources like the Learning Center, extended library hours, and study rooms.
What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
Stay involved, talk to your professors, take advantage of campus resources, and don’t hesitate to seek help when needed. You got this!
