Announcements
FROM: Rick Anderson, Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration

SUBJECT: Chilled Water Shutdown during the December Holiday Break (1st Notice)
DATE: December 2, 2016
This notice is to advise the UTRGV Edinburg Campus Community that a chilled water shutdown is scheduled on the Edinburg campus from 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 through 10 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2017.
The new Science building currently under construction and the upcoming new Interdisciplinary Engineering and Academic Studies building that will soon be under construction require new infrastructure in the Central Cooling Plant. We are proactively shutting down cooling plant operations in preparation for these major upgrades and improvements.
Most buildings on the campus will be affected by the chilled water shutdown. The following buildings are not on the central chiller plant and will NOT be affected:
(EVLGA-F) The Village A, B, C, D, E, and F
(ESRAX) Sugar Road Annex (EITTB) International Trade and Tech. (ESWKH) Southwick Hall (EMEBL) Medical Education Building (ESWOT) Social Work and Occupational Therapy |
(EPOB8) ROTC Storage (ESOCC) Soccer and Track & Field Complex (EROTC) ROTC (EEHSB) Environmental Health & Safety Bldg |
No disruption of other utilities (electricity, domestic water, waste water, and natural gas) is anticipated due to the chilled water shutdown. The air conditioning in most all other buildings, however, will be affected for the duration of this project and may cause the indoor temperatures to become uncomfortable, so we ask that you please plan accordingly. The Facilities Department cannot satisfy building cooling needs during the shutdown. Critical needs areas have been identified, so they can remain operational with back-up cooling as required. Examples of critical needs areas are research labs, animal research areas and specialty spaces that must remain in a climate controlled environment.
Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation in helping the university to upgrade its chilled water infrastructure.
Please share this notice with other building occupants.
