Facility Operations Personnel


Responsible for directly supervising various UREC activities, including, but not limited to Sport Club competitions and practices, Outdoor Adventures programming, and open recreation.

Responsibility
Position Overview

This position is responsible for supervising a safe environment on the fitness floor areas.

Major Duties

  • Assist and educate patrons on how to properly set up and utilize a wide variety of weight and cardio machines.
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Ensure there is not misuse or abuse of machines.
  • Provide proper spotting for weight room participants.
  • Assist with the marketing efforts of fitness/wellness programs.
  • Maintain assigned areas for cleanliness and patron safety.
  • Clean and maintain fitness equipment.
  • Monitor members/guest for any potential medical emergencies.
  • Provide customer service and communicate with participants and staff.
  • Assist with emergency situations and evacuations when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Requirements

Current Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED and First Aid or must obtain within 30 days of employment.

Preferred

  • Kinesiology or health/wellness major; previous experience in a health and fitness environment.
  • All Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Physics majors.

This position assists with special projects and upkeep of the facility. Primary responsibilities include repairs, installations and operating commercial equipment.

Major Duties

  • Assist in hiring, training, scheduling and evaluation of student employees.
  • Supervise the progress of student staff.

  • Maintain assigned areas for cleanliness and patron safety.
  • Clean and maintain fitness equipment.
  • Monitor members/guest for any potential medical emergencies.
  • Provide customer service and communicate with participants and staff.
  • Assist with emergency situations and evacuations when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Assist in the training, recruitment and supervision of student employees.
  • Educated on member service software regarding memberships and transactions.
  • Assist with department activities and programs.
  • Responsible for documentation of incidents/accidents in the facility.
  • Responsible for opening/closing procedures for the facility.
  • Supervises special events and facility rentals.
  • Responsible for cash handling transactions.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Have an understanding of the departments’ mission and vision within the institution.

Requirements

Currently certified in Adult, Child and Infant CPR/Standard First Aid or the ability to attain one within 30 days of employment.

Preferred

Experience in a leadership role, three (3) months recreation experience, ability to adapt quickly, adjust and overcome situations in a timely and professional manner.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for assisting with the day to day operations for the administrative office and providing direct support to the professional staff.

Major Duties

  • Receive all visitors to the administrative office.
  • Answer and redirect phone calls, and take messages.
  • Use computer database and word processing programs; operate office equipment including printers, copier and fax.
  • Distribute mail and perform general clerical tasks as necessary.
  • Assist with running errands on campus.
  • Provide customer service in a proficient and expeditious manner.
  • Be familiar with general membership and program registration information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. This position must have good interpersonal skills and be knowledgeable of the operations, services and programs of the department.

Requirements

Complete UTRGV employee compliance trainings; must pass State of Texas criminal background check.

Responsibility

Position Overview

This position will assist in overseeing the daily reservations and operations of assigned recreation programs. Areas of concentration will include program coordination, personnel leadership, time management, and customer service.

Major Duties

  • Responsible for assisting in the coordinating recreation programs such as special events, intramurals, fitness, wellness, outdoor adventures, member services.
  • Maintain a safe and pleasurable recreation environment for members.
  • Conducts visual inspections of facilities and equipment before the events.
  • Accountable for updating the reservation calendar and MAC Court schedule.
  • Responsible for creating the event contracts and maintain online events through Active Net.
  • Communicate with the department of Environmental Health and Safety regarding the TULIP Insurance.
  • Handle patron and department reservation requests in a proficient and expeditious manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with staff and potential customers.
  • Responsible for completing written reports on reservation events.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Facilities and Services, Operations Manager and Facility Manager with the planning, organization and execution of events held at University Recreation.
  • Assist with emergency situations and evacuations when necessary.
  • Assist in the training of new teammates regarding reservation procedures.
  • Supervise special events.
  • Performed other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a similar position.Knowledge of personal computer, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software or specialized equipment based on assignment. Standard office machines.
