Outdoor Adventures
Outdoor Adventures gives students opportunities to participate in outdoor activities in order to foster friendships, instill confident outdoor skills, and promote an ethic of conservation and stewardship.
Our indoor climbing wall provides an opportunity for patrons to hone their climbing skills in a safe and friendly environment.
Additionally, our program offers affordable trips to our members, which allows them to explore and take on adventurous journeys. Our trips follow the Leave No Trace Principles, where participants learn and practice outdoor ethics and a "take only pictures, leave only footprints" philosophy.
We also invite UTRGV departments and student organizations to ask us about our teambuilding services. Teambuilding activites enhance collaboration, communication, and trust through interactive challenges. Participants develop problem-solving skills, leadership and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment. For more information, email recadventures@utrgv.edu.

About the Wall
The Climbing Wall, offering 1,600 square feet of climbing space for bouldering, is located in our Edinburg location. To participate, climbers must have an active membership to access the wall. The hours of operation vary. The climbing wall is used for fitness, teaching, and recreation. It also offers students and members an opportunity to learn and hone their climbing skills in a friendly, encouraging, and experienced climbing environment. The 35-foot tall wall has plenty of natural features along with handholds to create a diverse range of routes. There are five ropes on the wall that can accommodate both novice and advanced climbers. Workshops on technique building and competitions are scheduled throughout the year. All climbers are required to sign an additional release waiver and a code of conduct prior to use.
