The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine’s goal to attract talent from around the Valley, the state, and the country is materializing every day as the number of faculty and staff being recruited increases on a monthly basis. UTRGV’s School of Medicine is also laying down the foundation for the goal to become an emerging research university. In alignment with these goals, the School of Medicine has been successful in creating private sector partnerships with Doctor’s Hospital Renaissance and the City of McAllen to expand the research infrastructure to further attract world class researchers.
Other Regional facilities housing the UTRGV School of Medicine include the existing Clinical Education Regional Academic Health Center in Harlingen, the existing Medical Research Regional Academic Health Center in Edinburg, the South Texas Diabetes and Obesity Institute, and the UTRGV Smart Hospital, a 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art simulation teaching hospital, also in Harlingen.
