Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Introduction
The Continuing Medical Education (CME) program at the UTRGV School of Medicine provides continuing professional development to physicians and others in the fields of medicine, teaching, and research as part of their lifelong learning.
Accreditation
The UTRGV School of Medicine (SOM) has been reviewed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) and awarded Accreditation for 4 years as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Accreditation in the ACCME System seeks to assure the medical community and the public that UTRGV SOM delivers education that is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence.
Mission
The UTRGV SOM Office of Continuing Medical Education in accordance with the School of Medicine’s mission and values, offers opportunities to advance knowledge, skills, and where possible patient outcomes by providing high-quality evidence-based education.
The expected result of the overall CME program is to change competence. Activities will be designed to change competence and change in learner competence will be measured.
