Research

The UTRGV Maternal Health Research Center is dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes for mothers in the Rio Grande Valley and beyond. We conduct research that focuses on the unique needs of our diverse community, with a particular emphasis on addressing health disparities.

Our research program is guided by the following core areas:

  • Identifying risk factors: We investigate the biological, social, and environmental factors that contribute to poor maternal health outcomes.
  • Developing interventions: We design and test interventions aimed at preventing and reducing maternal morbidity and mortality.
  • Promoting health equity: We ensure our research is culturally relevant and accessible to all populations in the Rio Grande Valley.

Become Involved in Our Research

We are committed to fostering collaboration and community engagement in our research endeavors. There are several ways you can get involved:

  • Participate in a research study: Help us advance maternal health by volunteering for a research study. We have opportunities for mothers, fathers, and healthcare providers.
  • Partner with us: We welcome collaborations with researchers, community organizations, and healthcare providers who share our mission of improving maternal health.
  • Stay informed: For more information, call (956)-296-1054 or email MHRC@utrgv.edu.
