Research
The UTRGV Maternal Health Research Center is dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes for mothers in the Rio Grande Valley and beyond. We conduct research that focuses on the unique needs of our diverse community, with a particular emphasis on addressing health disparities.
Our research program is guided by the following core areas:
- Identifying risk factors: We investigate the biological, social, and environmental factors that contribute to poor maternal health outcomes.
- Developing interventions: We design and test interventions aimed at preventing and reducing maternal morbidity and mortality.
- Promoting health equity: We ensure our research is culturally relevant and accessible to all populations in the Rio Grande Valley.
