Road Map to Appraisal Success

Recommended Steps:

Review the appraisal from last year.

Review the employee development plan.
If you haven’t met with your employee(s) since the last appraisal, meet with each to discuss progress and note the date of the meeting.

Quick Notes:

  1. The annual appraisal period is from May 1st to April 30th.
  2. Appraisals are due May 31, 2022.
  3. If an employee is on approved leave, the applicable appraisal period does not change.

 

Recommended Steps:

Seek a self-evaluation from the employee(s).

Seek and review employee training requests.
Discuss previous goals and previous development plans.

Can't attend scheduled Training? HR provides departmental training on request.

Quick Notes:

  1. When completing the biographical information section of the Employee Appraisal Form, do not use nicknames, informal names, or abbreviations.
  2. If an employee was hired by UTRGV after January 15, 2024, then the employee doesn't need an evaluation this cycle (consider a 60 or 90-day evaluation).
  3. If the employee was hired on or before January 15, 2024, but he/she transferred from another UTRGV department, please contact us at hreval@utrgv.edu or at 665-2451.
  4. Sign up for an Employee Appraisal Training.

  1. Job descriptions are available for classified employees .
  2. Upon request, A&P job descriptions are available by calling HR, and Compensation at 665-3232.

 

 

Incorporate feedback from the reviewer.

  2. Meet with employees in private with no interruptions & allow sufficient time for discussion.
