Scholarships and Internships
The UTeach Program offers different sources of financial support for its students. Scholarships and internships are available to students throughout the year. Please see the appropriate link for information about these opportunities.
UTeach Scholarship for Apprentice Teachers - Due March 22, 2023
To qualify, a UTeach apprentice teacher must meet the following criteria:
- be pursuing a B.S. or B.I.S. degree in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or physics with teacher certification,
- be currently enrolled in UTCH 4101/UTCH 4601, and
- have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale).
The scholarship is only available for students enrolled in Apprentice Teaching (UTCH 4101/UTCH 4601). The students will be emailed the scholarship application during the semester.

NOTE: AT students currently receiving a Robert Noyce scholarship will not be eligible for a UTeach scholarship.
Robert Noyce Scholarship (Deadline: July 15, 2023)
UTeach student may now apply for the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship!
Details regarding the scholarship criteria are as follows:
a) being a U.S. citizen or national or permanent resident alien;
b) being a science or mathematics major in UTeach RGV;
c) being classified as a junior or senior at UTRGV;
d) having completed
e) indicating a willingness to teach in high-need school districts;
f) committing to teach for two years for each full year of a scholarship received, with this commitment being fulfilled within eight years after graduating from UTeach RGV;
g) maintaining an overall GPA of 2.75 or better;
h) maintaining a science and math GPA of 3.0 or better.
Students will be awarded up to $13,150 for each academic year (but not exceeding their cost of attendance), and the goal is to recruit five juniors and ten seniors each year. If the juniors are eligible, they can continue with the scholarship in their senior year. If the juniors maintain their eligibility, the student can continue with the scholarship into their senior year.
