Future (Prospective) Students
The UTeach Rio Grande Valley Program is the secondary teacher preparation program at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for undergraduate students who are interested in teaching high school or middle school science mathematics. The first UTeach course (UTCH 1101) is a one-hour introductory course that allows you to explore teaching in an elementary classroom after you have learned to plan lessons and practice teaching those lessons. In all other UTeach courses that require field experience, you will practice teaching in a middle school or high school.
For more information about the program, contact the UTeach office on the Brownsville campus or the Edinburg campus. You may also contact Lizette Ingle, Program Coordinator, at (956) 665-2174 or lizette.ingle@utrgv.edu
Future students are not required to apply for admission to the UTeach program. Once you are enrolled at UTRGV as a science or mathematics major, meet with one of the UTeach advisors to review your UTeach degree plan.
For all future students, the only UTeach course you may enroll in during your first semester in the program is UTCH 1101.
