Sustainability Talks
Dr. Julieta Garcia is the first Hispanic woman to serve as a college president in the US, serving UTRGV's legacy institution, UT Brownsville, for over 20 years. Today, she continues to inspire students as a communications professor at UTRGV.
During the 2022 IC-SAC Conference, Dr. Garcia provided the keynote speech. ¨I cannot think of a more important topic, than the notion of, leaving things better for the next generation, sustainability¨. In sharing her story as a visionary of a higher education institution, bringing UTB from concept to fruition, Dr. Garcia recognizes the difficulties, and also the importance of building educational spaces for her border region that honor its cultural and environmental heritage.
