Sergio Perez

About the Director

Sergio brings more than two decades of experience leading advanced technology development and sustainability efforts across federal agencies, research institutions, and nonprofit sectors.

Sergio’s expertise, strategic mindset, and passion for sustainability will be instrumental as we strengthen our green initiatives, expand renewable energy solutions, and create a more resilient campus and community.

Outside of work, Sergio enjoys spending time with family and outdoors working in his yard—often with the enthusiastic help of his three rescue dogs and a cat who thinks he is one of them.

Jeremy San Miguel

Jeremy San Miguel is the Assistant Director for Sustainability at UTRGV, managing partnerships, programs, events, and initiatives to promote sustainability. With over 8 years of experience in higher education, he has worked in student affairs, healthcare administration, counseling, sustainability, and nonprofit sectors. Jeremy holds degrees in social work and public administration and is pursuing a Doctor of Educational Leadership. He serves on various committees to improve the quality of life in the Rio Grande Valley.

In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys fitness classes, reading journal articles, and singing karaoke. He believes in Anne Frank's mantra, "no one has ever become poor by giving."

Stephanie Trujillo

Stephanie Trujillo, a lifelong learner with a Bachelor's in Mathematics, began her career as a high school math teacher in 2018. Now, as a Program Coordinator for the UTRGV Office for Sustainability, she combines intellect and heart to champion sustainable initiatives. An avid athlete, she enjoys the gym and racquetball. Stephanie's journey, from classrooms to sustainability, is driven by her desire to make a positive impact.
