The UTRGV Chess Program will host the 2024 South Texas State Scholastic Championships March 16-17 on the Edinburg Campus. More than 1,000 K-12 students from across the region are expected to compete. The state tournament will crown winners in the elementary, middle and high school categories qualifying them for a play-off with the winners of the same sections of the 2024 North Texas State Scholastic Championships to determine the Texas representatives for the 2024 National Tournaments of State Champions in Norfolk, Virginia, July 27-30.
