Chess | Recruits students from across the globe, sharing their knowledge and culture with the University community Offers outreach through local and international tournaments, camps, trainings, and presents community chess classes for local community members on a regular basis. Center for Diversity & Inclusion and DREAM Resource Center |
Helps connect students to university and community resources and processes to support individuals with specialized questions pertaining to undocuscholars, students with mix-status families, and those under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA program); cultural resources to aid in transition; gender identity and gender expression; sexual orientation; ability, and faith and spirituality and the intersectionality of identity(ies). Provides support to culturally-based affinity groups, enhances programming that builds cultural competence and civil discourse, and provides direct support to students. |
Center for Student Involvement |
Hosts opportunities for students to get involved through the Involvement Ambassadors and V Rewards program. Students can join Fraternity and Sorority Life or one of the many student organizations available. Members of the Student Government Association serve as the official representation of the entire student body. Provides opportunities for students to strengthen their leadership skills:

Student Accessibility Services |
Facilitates equal access for students with disabilities to all university programs and services so they can participate in the full range of college experiences Students with disabilities (including temporary disabilities such as broken bones and recent surgeries) are encouraged to contact Student Accessibility Services for confidential discussions of their individual needs for academic accommodations and services. |
Student Activities | Coordinates the Distinguished Speakers Series, civic engagement initiatives, and major campus events for students. Plans campus traditions like The Stomp, Spirit Week, Homecoming, and Charreada and supports the cheer, dance, and mascot program. Student leaders in the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and the Civic Engagement Alliance (CEA) plan and promote programs and events that represent a variety of interests. |
Student Media | Produces KVAQ-TV, Pulse magazine, The Rider newspaper, and Vaquero Radio. Prepares students for careers across media platforms. Prepares students to be leaders in their future careers. |
Student Rights & Responsibilities |
Provides services and programs that inform students of their rights and responsibilities as UTRGV community members. Students, staff, and faculty who have a concern regarding behaviors such as the Student Code of Conduct, academic integrity, grievances, fairness, and equity or concerns about a student’s well-being may file a Vaqueros Care Report at utrgv.edu/reportit.
