Student Committees
Committees provide an important university structure for partnership, representation of the student's voice, and shared decision-making. There are 50+ student representative positions for university committees. Students are appointed to serve from September through August.
The Student Government Association is responsible for appointing students. Students can apply on the Student Representatives for UTRGV Committees page on VLink.
Campus Connect Committee
Campus Connect will work to promote greater consistency in programs and services of all types for students, faculty, and staff across UTRGV’s multiple campuses. To do this, the committee will examine academic programs; recruitment, retention, and completion; campus life; and administrative services.

Handbook of Operating Procedures Committee
The committee has responsibility for conducting a review of new or amended policies for the UTRGV Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP). The HOP contains policies and procedures for the governance of the university, as required by the UT System Regents’ Rules (Rule 20201: Presidents, Sec. 4.9).

Health Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Health Advisory Committee is to present student concerns and suggestions to the Director of Health Services, to actively investigate and resolve problems identified by students and student organizations, and to permit Health Services staff to solicit student opinions on stated issues.

Parking and Traffic Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Parking & Traffic Advisory Committee (PTAC) is to review parking and traffic regulations and to develop recommendations for revisions in these regulations as are necessary to an efficient parking and traffic system as it relates to differential parking zones, parking fees, penalties for violations of regulations, arrangements for bicycles, motorcycles, and pedestrian traffic.

Research and Educational Technology Committee
The purpose of the Research and Educational Technology Committee (RETC) is to recommend and prioritize technology initiatives to support research and educational technologies across campus. The committee will provide directional leadership for the University’s research capabilities, learning management system, lecture capture, teaching and collaboration tools, and classroom technology tools. It will also identify medical education and other technologies to meet the specific needs of the School of Medicine. In addition, this committee will create long-term master plans and roadmaps that include new initiatives, upgrades, and retirements of solutions that are no longer needed.

Title IX Committee
The Title IX Committee was created to give students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to address equity-related issues on campus. The Title IX Committee assists the University Title IX Coordinator with respect to the University’s Title IX compliance efforts and provides the University with advice on promoting a campus culture of respect and responsibility and in identifying and deploying effective measures to prevent and address sexual misconduct.

University Food Services Advisory Committee

University Recreation Advisory Committee
The purpose of the University Recreation Advisory Committee is to maintain a communication link between Wellness and Recreational Sports participants (Intramural, Open Recreation, Sports Clubs, Special Events/Outreach, and Fitness/Wellness) and the management staff in order to obtain advice and assistance by maximizing the efficient and effective use of the wellness and recreational resources at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
