The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Podiatric Medicine (SOPM), is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence and clinical competency. Our CPME (Council on Podiatric Medical Education) Required Outcomes demonstrates our students’ success in passing licensure exams, graduating on time, and entering residency programs. These performance metrics from 2022 to 2024 reflect our dedication to delivering a rigorous curriculum that prepares future podiatric physicians for impactful careers. Additionally, our innovative blend of in-person and limited distance learning ensures a comprehensive educational experience tailored to meet current healthcare demands.

Graduation Rate: This is the total number of students who graduated from a school or college of podiatric medicine within four years, divided by the number of new (not repeat) students attending at the two-weeks point at the beginning of the first year/first semester. 

Residency Placement Rate: CPME Accreditation Performance Metrics data will be collected starting in 2024 when the first cohort takes APMLE 1. 

Distance Learning for the 24-25 Academic Year

The UTRGV SOPM does not deliver any modules in years one, two, or three entirely via distance learning. In year four, the spring module is offered via Zoom only for students who do not have rotations in the Rio Grande Valley. Overall, 2.2% of our curriculum is delivered via Zoom. 

The figures below (*) represent courses where experts in various topics have been invited to deliver content via Zoom. During these lectures, the faculty of record is physically present in the classroom with the students. No examinations are conducted off-campus.
