Doctoral Hooding Ceremony
The Doctoral Hooding Ceremony is a distinguished event hosted by the UTRGV Graduate College to honor the academic achievements of graduating doctoral students. Held each fall and spring semester, this in-person ceremony celebrates the culmination of years of research, dedication, and scholarly excellence. Doctoral candidates are formally hooded by their dissertation chair or faculty designee in front of family, friends, and the university community.
Doctoral Student Mixer
The Doctoral Student Mixer is a special event designed to welcome new and continuing doctoral students to the UTRGV community. Hosted each semester by the Graduate College, this in-person event provides an opportunity to connect with fellow doctoral students, meet key faculty and staff, and learn about resources that support doctoral success. Enjoy refreshments, meet your peers across disciplines, and build a supportive network that will carry you through your academic journey. Career Center
The UTRGV Career Center is dedicated to helping students and alumni explore career pathways, develop professional skills, and connect with meaningful opportunities. Through personalized career advising, resume and interview preparation, internships, job fairs, and employer partnerships, the Center empowers Vaqueros to confidently pursue their professional goals. Our mission is to foster career readiness and lifelong career management, supporting UTRGV’s commitment to student success and workforce development in the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.
Center for Online Learning and Technology (COLTT)
The Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology (COLTT), is the support unit for the design and delivery of online courses and programs at UTRGV, including those that are delivered 100% online and hybrid or are web augmented. UTRGV offers various minors, certificates, undergraduate, and graduate programs online, some of which are offered fully online, in an accelerated mode or partially online. Dean Of Students
The Dean of Students provides support to students by ensuring that issues are properly addressed and to facilitate opportunities that help meet their academic and personal goals. The office is a resource connecting students who are navigating personal or academic issues to supportive campus and community resources, serves as student advocates, and promotes students’ rights and responsibilities.
International Office
International Student Services help enrich the academic and cultural experience by providing quality support to our UTRGV international student population. The rich diversity brought to UTRGV by international students is a crucial element of our unique culture and a truly distinctive aspect of our community. We celebrate each other’s differences in a way that is welcoming and inclusive for everyone, while also embracing the fact that a shared desire joins every student here for a world-class education.
Writing Center
The Writing Center offers assistance with academic writing in all disciplines. Writing Consultants, certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), aid students throughout all stages of their writing process. Consultants are prepared to help students with the following tasks: clarifying an assignment, brainstorming ideas and outlines, understanding genre and audience expectations, revising an essay for effective organization, clarity, and word choice, using appropriate voice and tone, and integrating and citing source materials. In addition to offering face-to-face individual and small group consultations, the WC offers online support via synchronous Zoom and asynchronous daily and weekend writing consultations.
U CENTRAL
UTRGV's U Central serves as the university's one-stop service center for student support, encompassing Financial Aid, Registration, Admissions, and the Bursar's Office. Established to streamline administrative processes, U Central aims to remove barriers and provide students with user-friendly tools to navigate their UTRGV experience. By centralizing essential enrollment services, U Central enhances the student experience through convenient and efficient assistance, aligning with UTRGV's commitment to maximizing student success.
Student Accessibility Services
Student Accessibility Services supports students with disabilities by providing academic accommodation, evaluating documentation, and offering consultations—including for temporary disabilities. SAS also promotes disability awareness and inclusion across the university community to support student success. Students are encouraged to engage with SAS resources and staff to help achieve their academic goals.
