Reinstatement Appeal
Students must remain in good academic standing until their degree is awarded. Those who are not in good academic standing will be prevented from registering for subsequent terms. Students who are suspended must submit and receive approval for reinstatement in order to have their registration hold lifted.
Thesis and Dissertation
One of the final steps leading to the award of the degree is the completion of the thesis or dissertation. Student must abide by formatting guidelines and posted due dates.
Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC)
Graduate Program Coordinator serve as key support staff for graduate students, helping them navigate program requirements, meet critical deadlines, and access university resources. They provide guidance on academic policies, assist with enrollment and milestone tracking, and act as a liaison between students, faculty, and administrative offices to ensure a smooth and successful academic journey.
Enrollment
ASSIST provides a variety of online services to UTRGV students regarding registration, financial aid, payment, and grades. For your security, ASSIST requires that you enter your username and password to access your financial aid, payment and transcript records. Registration is available to currently enrolled students and applicants who have been accepted for admission to UTRGV.
Update Program of Study
Current graduate students seeking to change their catalog year and/or the concentration/specialization associated with their current degree program must submit a request using the Graduate Program of Study Update Request portal.
Apply for Graduation
Applying for graduation is done through ASSIST. Priority application deadlines and other related dates can be found on our commencement website.
Registrar Appeals
Students who enter The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley are undertaking a serious effort to further their education. It is expected that they will make every effort to complete their courses during the term. However, in rare circumstances, students may encounter situations beyond their control that prevent them from completing their coursework. When situations like this arise, there are procedures in place to help students recover from these events.
