As the administrative hub for all graduate programs across the university, the Graduate College oversees or participates in key functions including recruitment, admissions, enrollment, degree certification, student records, and the development and implementation of graduate policy. Through this work, we provide the structure and support necessary for students to successfully complete their graduate studies and advance in their academic and professional careers.
Our programs span a wide range of disciplines, including science, engineering, health, education, business, liberal arts, and more. In close partnership with faculty and academic colleges, we are committed to expanding access to doctoral education, improving time-to-degree outcomes, and fostering a robust and research-driven environment. These initiatives support UTRGV’s strategic objective to achieve Carnegie R1 classification and reflect our broader mission to serve as a community-empowering research university.
Over the past year, the Graduate College has implemented new services and programs designed to enhance the graduate student experience. These include expanded dissertation support, the launch of targeted funding opportunities, enhanced orientation programming, and the relocation to a new, larger office suite to better serve our students.
Thank you for your interest in UTRGV and the Graduate College. We look forward to being a part of your academic journey.
Dr. Can (John) Saygin
Dean of the Graduate College
