Connecting with Students
Dr. Bailey says one of his greatest joys of being president is spending time with the students – looking them in the eye and learning where they are from, what they are studying and where they see themselves after graduation. This is why it’s important to Dr. Bailey to organize more student-inclusive events aimed at enriching students' educational experiences and fostering a sense of belonging within the university community, all while ensuring these events are enjoyable and fulfilling for students.
Picnic with the President
“Picnic with the President” is a new tradition started by Dr. Bailey. Held annually at the beginning of the fall semester, “Picnic with the President” gives students an opportunity to meet the President and his leadership team, and for them to meet the students. They put on their aprons and serve hot dogs or hamburgers, chips, and cool drinks to the long lines of students.
