Dr. Havidán Rodríguez
Before becoming The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) founding Provost & Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Havidán Rodríguez served as President, ad interim, and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA). Dr. Rodríguez was honored with the President's Medal of Honor in August 2017 during UTRGV's convocation, celebrating his contributions to establishing and developing the University.
In September 2017, Dr. Rodríguez took office as the 20th President of the State University of New York at Albany (commonly referred to as the University at Albany, UAlbany or SUNY Albany). Under his guidance, UAlbany has opened cutting-edge research facilities and earned the prestigious Seal of Excelencia for its commitment to Latino student success. Dr. Rodríguez is a respected social scientist specializing in disaster response and resiliency and has received numerous awards for his contributions to academia and community development.
