Welcome to UTRGV P-16 Outreach!
On behalf of the P-16 Outreach Team and Programs, we are pleased you are interested in services offered by The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
The P-16 Outreach office runs a variety of programs serving the pre-k to college level (P-16) community. This is done via partnerships and collaborations with local schools, non-profits and businesses. All of our initiatives assist us in reaching our goal of developing a "college going culture" in the Rio Grande Valley.

P-16 Outreach Initiatives
The P-16 Outreach Office is dedicated to supporting students in early education and creates a bridge to and thru college. We provide students and their families with access to rigorous academic programs that raise expectations for continued success. Our programs are designed to provide a smooth transition to higher education and to increase the number of students that are prepared to enter and succeed in a postsecondary setting.
We are committed to developing partnerships with local schools districts, supporting incoming students, and engaging our community in developing a college going culture in the Rio Grande Valley!
The P-16 Outreach Office includes a variety of programs and services for the community including:
- Mother-Daughter Program
- Collegiate G-Force Mentorship Program
- Abriendo Caminos Migrant program
- Generation Texas
- Summer camps and conferences
- Migrant University Summer Experience (MUSE) for high school students
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) based residential camps for middle school students. Coming Fall 2016: Father Son Program
Mission and Vision
UTRGV P-16 Outreach is a department under the Division of Student Success, and Student Educational Outreach. We provide outreach services in support of closing the gaps, Generation Texas, and the 60x30TX state initiatives. We aim to develop a college going culture in the Rio Grande Valley, by cultivating the importance of higher education within our schools and the community at large.
Efforts are clustered around the following principal services:

- Go Centers/Collegiate G-Force Mentorship Program
- Generation Texas Movement
- Migrant Outreach Services
- Summer Enrichment Programs and Conferences
- P-16 Council Presence and other Statewide Partnerships
